Diabetes and Your Mouth # 4 : Keep Plaque at Bay

Sticky plaque -- food, saliva, and bacteria -- starts to form on your teeth after you eat, releasing acids that attack tooth enamel. Untreated plaque turns into tartar, which builds under gum lines and is hard to remove with flossing. The longer it stays on your teeth, the more harmful it is. Bacteria in plaque causes inflammation and leads to gum disease. Having high blood sugar often makes gum disease worse.

Hygiene Visits Improve Your Overall Health

We recommend having regular teeth cleanings by our hygienist. Research has shown that the spread of the bacteria from your gums reaches all vital organs, contributing to serious health conditions. Hard-to-clean areas of teeth often result in the build-up of plaque that eventually hardens into tartar. This should be removed before it forms below the gumline and starts an infection. A professional cleaning is the only way to remove tartar once it has formed on teeth.

Dental Veneers

A New Smile in Only Two Visits!

If you have put off achieving the smile of your dreams because you thought your embarrassing dental problems were beyond the reach of even modern technology, you can stop frowning and start smiling right now! Porcelain veneers can correct the unsightly problems of misshapen teeth, deep discoloration, and wide gaps in just two visits! Our veneers are thin, but very durable sheets of dental ceramic that are bonded to natural teeth for a quick and easy new smile! We also use veneers to correct chipped, cracked, or worn teeth. The veneer is placed over the defect, completely covering and reshaping the tooth. It is made to match the color of other teeth to look very natural.

Diabetes and Your Mouth # 3: See Your Dentist Regularly

People with diabetes are prone to oral infections. You should get dental checkups at least twice a year. Let your dentist know you have diabetes and what medicines you take. Regular checkups and professional cleanings can help keep a mouth healthy. And a dentist can teach you the best ways to care for your teeth and gums at home.

Diabetes and Your Mouth # 2: Control Diabetes to Keep Your Smile

Well-controlled diabetes contributes to a healthy mouth. If you have poorly controlled or high blood sugar, your risk increases for dry mouth, gum disease, tooth loss, and fungal infections like thrush. Since infections can also make blood sugar rise, your diabetes may become even harder to control. Keeping your mouth healthy can help you manage your blood sugar.

Dental Implants

Another Dental Implant Option

All-on-4™ immediate load implants is an additional option to traditional implants. As the name implies, you only require four implants to secure your dentures permanently in place. All in the same day, you can arrive with missing or unhealthy teeth and go home with a beautiful smile. These strategically positioned implants will give very strong support for your teeth. There is no need to wait for the jawbone to heal. That very same day you can eat whatever you like!

In times past, when patients lost a tooth, they would be referred to an oral surgeon to implant the titanium post. Then the surgeon would send the patient back to the dentist to have the teeth placed on the implant. At our practice, we take care of the whole procedure in just one visit. There is no six-month waiting time to have the procedure completed.

Secure Your Smile with Overdentures

At Castle Rock Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, we offer our patients an alternative to implants. With just a few dental implants inserted, your dentures will be locked into place so you will no longer have to worry about movement. They easily snap out for proper cleaning. So say good-bye to all the problems of loose-fitting dentures. No need to buy any more adhesive creams that don't work. Say hello to your new smile and eating every type of food you fancy.
